How it works

Public arithmetic, not physiology. Even pace is goal time divided by race distance. The wrist strip is a cumulative clock at every mile (US) or kilometer (Metric) — the tape you glance at on race day, not a dense split table. Slight negative uses the same convention as the marathon, 5K, and 15K pages: first half even × 1.03, second half even × 0.97, finish still matches the goal. Copy the plain lines into Notes or print the strip alone. Not VDOT, not McMillan.

  • even pace = time / distance
  • slight negative: first half even × 1.03 · second even × 0.97
  • 1 mile = 1.609344 km · 5K = 5.000 km · 10K = 10.000 km
  • 15K = 15.000 km · half = 21.0975 km · marathon = 42.195 km
  • 50K = 50.000 km

FAQ

What is a race pace band calculator?

A race pace band calculator turns a goal finish time into a printable wrist split band. Default is a 4:00:00 marathon at even pace: 9:09 per mile, 5:41 per kilometer, with a clock at every mile or km mark. Copy the strip into Notes or print it. There is no Calculate button.

How do I print a marathon pace band?

Set Marathon, type a goal time (4:00:00 is the default), and choose Even or Slight negative. Use the header US / Metric control for a mile band or a km band. Tap Print. Print CSS hides the chrome so the wrist strip prints alone. Or tap Copy and paste the plain lines into Notes.

What is a slight negative split on the wrist band?

Same public arithmetic as SplitLab’s marathon, 5K, and 15K pages. First half is even pace × 1.03 (about 3% slower). Second half is even pace × 0.97 (about 3% faster). Finish still matches the goal. Not physiology.

Is a pace band a training plan?

No. This is a pacing aid for race day — clocks you can glance at on your wrist. It is not a training plan and not medical advice.

Is this VDOT or McMillan?

No. This page does not clone VDOT, McMillan, or any branded training table. Even pace is time divided by distance. The wrist strip is the product, not a formula dump.
