Age grade 58.7% is the age standard divided by your time. Age-graded time and open equivalent are your finish multiplied by the factor — same number. Developing is the usual masters label for that percentage (world ≥90, national ≥80, regional ≥70, local ≥60), not a ranking of the runner.

Formulas
WMA 2025 road method (Alan Jones tables, CC0). Age standard is the open world standard divided by the single-age factor. Age grade is that standard divided by your finish. Age-graded time — also the open-class equivalent — is finish × factor. Other road distances interpolate those age standards on a log-distance scale between 5K, 10K, half, and marathon.
- age_standard = open_standard / age_factor
- AG% = (age_standard / actual_time) × 100
- age-graded time = actual_time × age_factor
- Men marathon open = 2:00:35 · age-40 factor = 0.9783

FAQ
How does age grade work?
Age grade % is the WMA age standard divided by your finish time. The age standard is the open world standard for that road distance divided by your single-age factor. A Male 40 marathon in 3:30:00 is 58.7% on the 2025 road tables (open 2:00:35, factor 0.9783). Age-graded time is finish × factor. There is no Calculate button — the percent updates live.
What is a good age grade?
Masters statisticians often label 90%+ world class, 80%+ national, 70%+ regional, and 60%+ local. Those bands describe the percentage, not the person. A 3:30 marathon at 40 is 58.7% on this page — developing on that scale, and still a real marathon.
WMA 2025 vs older tables?
This page uses the 2025 road revision (Alan Jones, approved 2025-01-10 by USATF MLDR). Earlier road sets were 2015 and 2020. Open men’s marathon is now 2:00:35. Older calculators will not match these percents.
Do men and women use the same tables?
No. WMA publishes separate male and female road factors and open standards. Women’s marathon open is 2:09:56. Switch Male / Female to load the matching table.
Road vs track — which tables are these?
Road only: 5K, 10K, half, marathon, with log-distance interpolation for custom road distances. Track age factors are a different WMA set and are not on this page.
